Jobs Case Managing from home

by mom4tip

I have worked as an RN for 27 years in a variety of settings. These include Trauma, Ortho and urology floor, Staff Developement Coordinator, Home Health Clinician, and the last 4 years as a case manager in a Home Health Office. I communicated in this last job between the field clinicians and insurance companies. I also took referrals for home health and worked with diagnosis codes on the oasis forms. I did whatever needed to be done as far as following Medicare guidelines and assuring quality patient care. Unfortunately, our company was bought out and many nurses in the office were no longer needed. Instead, the new company kept the non nurses to do the work and kept a few nurses to sign off. I am 57 years old and can no longer physically work as a floor nurse. Does anyone know how I could go about finding a position working from home case managing patients such as workmans comp etc. Please help me if you can. I may end up in foreclosure on my home if I don't find something soon.
Thank You

do you just have to work at home, because companies like Atena and Blue Cross both use nurses, but if there is not one in your area, maybe you could be virtual.. get hired first and let them know that is your interest and see if they will be willing to accommodate you,,
good luck, you have lots experience and should be able to find something, or create your own job and market yourself to insurance companies .. then you can work on a contract basis.. its worth a shot. Even hospitals have a UR departments and case managers maybe they would hire you virtual..
