Funny i was wondering the very same.
I do have a question for you, if you don't mind. My maiden name is townsend, do you have any relation in arizona? Your name caught my attention.
Anyway, i often just sort of lurk over here, cause there are hardly any posts from ER nurses. Maybe we are all too busy, or is it just not interesting enough?

I'm here!
So there is a few of us out there!!! How's work?? Crazy, of course. We are moving into a brand new ER next week. Kind of exciting, but also scary. They say that our census will probably double within 6 months. But no new staff yet!?!?!?!?!?!?!
We have to justify that additional staff is needed. Nothing like being reactive instead of proactive.

atownsendrn,
yeah, work IS crazy! how exciting for you moving to a new ER, hope you do get more staff. here there is talk of building a new ER also, but haven't heard much of it for awhile. all we hear about is out UTL (unable to locate) rate. it's one of the highest around, one time it was up to 28%! can't blame 'em for leaving after waiting in central waiting room for up to 14hrs just to get seen. one of the (many) downfalls of working at a county, level I trauma, teaching center in a large city.

Hi, everyone! Just checking in before getting some zzzz's. Had one of those rare nice days in the ER today. Not too crazy. Guess the rain kept everyone home.
Happy Birthday to ER Nurse Tracy!

ATownsendRN,
We opened our new ER on Nov6 and our census doubled on Nov 6th. No extra staff either. It was a nightmare, I will be thinking of you. JJ
Thanks JJ - We are scheduled to move on June 10. I am excited and nervous all at the same time. Any grand advice about the move itself. So many changes - we are getting a new ER, a medicine pyxis, and a supply pyxis all at once. Then I was told that in August we would begin computer charting. Craziness!!!
