So this could have gone on a different board but other nurses don't typically move around and maneuver patients like ER nurses do.
What are the best shoes for 12 hour shifts? I can't do danskos or crocs.

I have arthritis in my toes and needed a lot of support. I LOVE my Alegrias. My feet feel great all day in them.

I wear KEEN utility shoes. The have a mule, a mary jane an a traditional lace up. They were about $100.
They are as ugly as a litter of baby rats, but supportive and comfortable.

Bates side-zip ems/police boots. Very comfortable over 12 hours, tough leather, no slip soles.
This has to be a joke, right? I used to wear Bates side-zips when I worked on the bus (don't remember which model anymore as it's been a while). I only wore them because they were easy to get on and off at the station and they provided decent protection on the job. I certainly wasn't wearing them for comfort while on calls, and I couldn't imagine wearing them for an entire 12-hour shift in an ER.
Did you have some kind of insert or something?

I've been tempted to wear my combat jump boots that I wear working outside the hospital, but...
I wear low, lightweight hiking shoes. A number of our people seem to like these 'approach shoes' (so called because they were first popular for the approach hike to a climbing route) or something similar. As JBudd (my colleague) mentioned, they can be a bit hard to clean.
Whatever you choose, DON'T wear white. And the key thing is to check that the soles won't be slippery on wet stuff. I had a pair of shoes that I tossed because of that.

That is what I wear in my ED -- Nike SFB boots. Gotta love being a nurse in uniform! Much more lightweight than my Bates or Bellevilles. Also a big fan of Merrells and Keens on the civilian side of life.

I wear the black super birkis with skulls alternated with plain black super birkis. Wonderful shoes.
