We actually have someone asked for a tylenol prescription...Never in my life have I been so amazed. It would cost them maybe $3. But of course, they just want to ride the system.

sigh.... we give them out also. Most of the medicaid people we give them to are smokers and paying $40 per carton for cigarettes :angryfire :angryfire

I always make a point to tell them that they should spend their cigarette money on medication for their children! They ignore me but it gives me satisfaction :chuckle :chuckle

Knew a RN who told a family that.

they called and complained

and she had a written warning put in her file

Just when I thought I'd seen it all, patient yesterday wanted an Rx for "Marinol" to treat her IBS... doc of course refused to write a script for synthetic marijauana

My favorite is the mom dripping in gold jewelry who hands over the baby's script and medicaid card, then pulls out her cell phone to chat while she waits. Wonder if she wants to take the cell phone bill directly out of my paycheck too.

I once saw woman at a grocery store illegally park her brand new Dodge Intrepid in a handicapped space. I watched her yell at and intimidate her many children all through the store. And then, I watched her pay with food stamps. I noticed her acrylic nails as she "paid". I would bet anything that she's a Medicaide mom who asks for Tylenol scripts.
