$2 hr raise. I am serious. If they truly appreciate us year around that would really show it. Never will happen but hey a guy can hope.

2 years ago I got a bunch of the Informed ER/Critical Care Pocket Guides and we raffled off 20-30 of them. For each ER Doc that put 25$ in, another book was added to the pile. The profits went to our ENA chapter (about $100 dollars).

If anyone is interested in getting these, let me know, I can get a good deal from the publisher directly.

Although it sounds good, sound research doesn't actually support raises as increasing satisfaction or retention.

Money is important, but on many surveys money comes behind things like a safe workplace, empowerment and support of managers.

However, usually it's easier for the boss to just scratch a check or a raise to make people happy. Unfortunately, the things that make a bigger difference in satisfaction and retention aren't as easy to implement.

Well I am in Florida, on of the well known low pay states. So others might know where I come from. My facility over the last few years is/has improved in nurse recognition- in fact we have ANCC site visit for Magnet in a couple weeks. But they pay the market- so you not going to make much more anywhere else in the area. A surprise would be to jump above the heard. Though I do understand that management on a department level has little control over nurse wages.
