Do you get incentive pay for Triage

Published

Hi guys, Triage is very busy and stressful in my hospital (like in most hospitals) I've heard that some hospitals pay from $1 to $3 x-tra for triage nurses, does anybody have any input on this, I'm trying to push for this Triage differential pay in my hospital in El Centro CA. I will appreciate your comments.

HAHA! That sounds like a joke to me. Even being a relief charge for a day doesn't get you anything more. :uhoh3:

I get the incentive of not having to wipe butts for the day...

$1/hour here for triage, charge, preceptor!

I need to move one state over. No triage, charge, or preceptor incentives here. I just finished a 3-day triage course and discovered our whole system is really bad.

Getting paided extra for triage. Please tell me where you heard they were doing this. I'm a charge nurse at a busy ER and I get a whole dollar. Along with being a charge nurse-- I'm a transfer coordinator, triage nurse and a staff nurse. Sound fun huh?

"Many a time a man's mouth broke his nose" Irish quote:balloons:

I have 2 dedicated Triage Nurses a shift (sometimes 3 if the ER is rockin'). They dont get a differential, but Relief Charge RNs and Preceptors get a 2 buck-an-hour increase.

Specializes in Emergency Room/corrections.

Extra pay for triage??? ummmmm NO. I get $1.25 per hour for being charge nurse. Our hospital does not give extra pay for triage or for preceptoring.

You get extra pay for charge nurse?!!!?

I think we just get battle pay for working in the ED altogether!

Not to mention dumping pay that each of the inpatient units should kick in for!
