Bladder Cocktails?

Last week one of these had to be given in the ED. So many confused looks on even veteran nurses as we tried to figure out this stuff. We were told it is basically like a strong cleaner, pretty potent. So is there a great way of applying this stuff? It was tried with a CBI tubing. However airflow was not able to allow the tubing to breathe..so to speak. Tried looking this up but curious of anyone else's experience with this...it was Rimso 50.

Great. Ever spray yourself with mucomyst? Now there's a special experience.
I've had it spit and thrown at me....LOLOL Gotta love the ED.

These patients will smell of it even after the treatment is done. Their breath will even smell like bad garlic....they speak of a bad taste in their mouths for a few days.

Shudder.

Do I understand that this requires actually filling a bladder? I would wonder how you determine the capacity? I once had a ED MD ask me to fill a bladder to expedite US. I had never done it and felt it was out of my scope of practice. Just wondering how you know the rate at which a bladder can be filled, and how to know when its full.

When we have to fill a bladder for pelvic US we actually fill while in US, and the tech lets us know when it's full enough. Looks pretty cool on US, can see the fluid swirling like confetti. Works for eliminating guess work. One of my least favorite things to do though, I never hold my tongue about questioning the necessity. Seems invasive unnecessarily most times, just to expedite getting the images, rather than waiting it out with IVF.
