Was subpoened to go to court today. Case happened 2 years ago. Drunk driving where there was a traumatic amputation of the left (i think) pinna. Who remembers 2 years ago? I did remember the pinna though...lol... anyway.. get to court.. wait around 2 hours.. then the secretary comes in and say... oh.. no one bothered to tell me it was pleaded some time ago. Sorry.. fill this form out and you are free to go. I accrued the big $16.00 for my trouble... $10 of that mileage. Will be reimbursed for my time from the hospital fortunately. Anyway... Just glad to say it's done and over. I was a little nervous, but not terribly so... just would rather not do it. Don't you all agree?

The funny thing (not really) about subpeonas is that they make YOU feel guilty, when you are just a witness. I worked for atty/MD years ago and learned to call the lawyer responsible for the case and get info. I also learned ways to get out of going to court (I represented our office and was subpeoned regularly for nitpicking stuff). If we ran the hospitals like they run the courts, well then the lawyers would REALLY have a field day.

Now I can understand why people shoot attorneys. There have been a few who have tried to degrade me so on the stand that the judge stepped in and stopped it and once even reccomended I contact the bar. I did too.
