Hello to anyone out there applying to UW DNP or currently in the program. I am applying to fall2015. I am wondering about ability to work and attend the program. Also are there any of you with children/family?, working? and able to keep up the load? How many students does the program accept. What is your track? I am interested in FNP track and very anxious about making into the program. I know it's quiet competitive. Please respond if you have any insight and would like to share your experience. Thank you.

I just submitted my DNP application tonight! I have heard of people working full-time but I know it's challenging. I will probably be working a .9 at the hospital I'm at which is 6 12's (day shift) a pay period. I'm also applying for fnp which tends to be more competitive. I think they said somewhere around 70-80 people apply for about 20-25 spots. I do know a friend who was number 16 on the waitlist last year and she got in! So there is hope! No other insight besides that.

I don't have much experience as a RN so I'm feeling nervous but I'm already doing what I love, nursing! so I figure I can keep doing that if I'm not accepted this year.

Hi There, thank you for your response. I just submitted my application today. Anxious to see what happens. You can email me at [email protected]

keep in touch. It would be nice to talk more.

Hi There, giving you another post, so where do you work. Are you located in the southend at all? I would love to connect and chat more about your plans and share thoughts. Also I don't understand what the wait list is for does that mean if others decline to accept the offer it clears up the spot or what. Let me know. Thanks.

Hello there....glad somebody got a post rolling for this year. Let's see...I've been a nurse for two years in AK. I work full-time in a rural hospital as well as part-time in a clinic setting. I have applied for the FNP track at UW, and my plan is to transfer down to an ICU in either Seattle or the Bellingham area. I would prefer to work full time, and my brother who is in the Univ of Alaska FNP program believes that it is feasible as well...at least through the first year to two years. As a side note, I sent all of the physical application materials in around the middle of Nov., and the school still hasn't updated the online app page to say that they have received them, despite a confirmation by USPS.....anybody else have this problem as well? I hate to call and bug them...I imagine that they are simply inundated with apps right now....

Hi there, nice to see some feedback as well. I work in the ER. I enjoy what I am doing but also see the limitations in practice. I applied to FNP track. I'm hoping for the best. I was able to deliver the app in person since I live here so I did not have any prob with. I hope that your app is also on track especially if you turned it in so early they should have it. Well thanks for the post and I'm hoping to meet more people that have applied to hear about their experience as well.

I wouldn't worry about the website being updated. I handed mine in by hand and it still says "not received" under official transcripts and the printed application. The online thing is new for them and they haven't fully transitioned to a 100% online app so I think there are things that aren't updated on their end. They are still using paper for reviews I think.

Any idea on when we expect to hear back?

Usually mid to late March. When I got my letter for my bsn I got it March 30th.

Anybody have an idea about the average, accepted applicant GPA? I looked around a bit, and I couldn't find any statistics....

I think they consider everything but above a 3.0 in last graded 90 credits is what I know.
