  1. I applied for the adult-gerontological nurse practitioner DNP program. Called admissions before and was told that last year there were 40 applicants for that specialty. Hope to hear from them soon!
  2. I am considering taking on a local travel nursing gig before I start nurse practitioner school this coming fall as well. Hubby and I have quite a lot of loans (student + mortgage). Smallnurse, are you currently enrolled in school full time or part time? The first year of the school I applied to is mainly didactic but still 8-10 credits per quarter. Wondering how many people have done this and what their experiences are?
  3. I just got an interview invite for the traditional MSN Adult NP program for this Saturday!
  4. I called the school and was told that they will send out notices by March or April at the latest! 2 more months! The horrible wait...
  5. I am a traditional MSN applicant for the Adult NP program. I called Ben since most of the news I have been reading are for the APNI program. Ben told me that they are still reviewing the APNI applications and have not looked at the traditional MSN applicants yet and hope to review them soon next month. From what I have heard that they typically don't accept so many MSN applicants but I don't know for how many spots. Any idea on how many traditional MSN applicants they accepted last year for each program?
  6. According to the facebook group page, many people have not received their invites yet for an interview. It appears only a few people got invites for FNP and Psych programs but not the others. I think it's too early to determine at this time.
  7. My advice for the essay is get to the point and entertain your reader. They briskly read most of these essays. I graduated from the program several years ago and we had several choices for the essay and some basic calculation math questions. Good luck!
  8. Any idea on when we expect to hear back?
  9. I noticed there wasn't another thread for the 2015 applicants. Who's applying this year? This will be my first time applying to the DNP program. Good luck all!
  10. Thanks HawaiiGuy, I have requested to join the Seattle University APNI Applicants group on FB
  11. Hello thanks for the great info Gigi. How many days do you spend in class? I currently live in Seattle and would like to stay in Seattle most of the duration of schooling to save money on living cost as I have a mortgage here. I know the program has 2 immersion days a semester and I plan to commute for those days. Thanks!
  12. That would be great! Unfortunately I don't have enough posting on this board to private message you!
  13. Does anyone know how the admissions committee would feel about a recommendation letter from an MD? I work in a critical care unit where I have good rapport with an intensivist. I am just not sure whether the admissions committee would accept a recommendation letter from an MD when I am applying for NP school.
  14. Is anyone applying for the RN-MSN program? Or has anyone been through the RN-MSN program? I see mostly threads for the APNI and BSN program. I'm an ICU nurse with 2 years of experience and planning to apply for SU's Adult/Gerontological program. There's an information session this Oct 1st but I won't be able to attend it due to work conflict.
  15. That is most likely after shift differential. My friend works for the Franciscan system in the ICU and started at $27 just a year ago. So after night shift differential it would be $31/hr. I have almost two years of experience and base pay is $29/hr. Seattle doesn't have income tax so take that in consideration. It's one of the best places to live and have a family with many job opportunities.
