  1. Hey BlueGirl17, many people in my cohort did not have a 4.0 and the GPA is by far not the most important factor in the admissions process. I would consider searching out extra-curricular opportunities that can diversify your portfolio. From what I can tell, Duke tries to admit students who are strong academically, but well-rounded and that can add to an already diverse student body. I would also suggest applying for Spring 2015. If Duke is your goal, don't give up on it. I had the most amazing experience at Duke. You can do it, and you absolutely have a chance at admission. Also, unfortunately many deny their admission because of Duke's price… keep waiting :-)
  2. I was accepted to the DNP-FNP program at the University of Washington! It's a 3 year program and I can't wait to start :) Good luck to all of you as you begin the journey to advanced practice.
  3. I just finished an accelerated BSN program and am continuing straight on to a DNP. It seems like the long way around to becoming an NP, but if you don't mind taking things slowly it could be a great route for you. I loved my ABSN program and would not trade it to do an entry-level MSN program. I will be in school for 4 1/2 years before getting my DNP and I am okay with that. It is really what you think is the best path for you.
  4. Hey everybody, congrats on acceptance to Duke! This is a wonderful BSN program and Durham is a fun place for you out-of-towners. If anyone has questions about the program, let me know. :-)
  5. Hey Shannon123, I'm not sure how many they accept into the DNP. But stats for FNP cohorts trend around 15 students. I'm also not sure about financial aid packages, but the admission offer letter that we got in March includes scholarship and fellowship offers. You could try calling the financial aid office at UW to see about aid.
  6. Congrats SoberGirl, what track are you? Does anyone know what the UW suggests as far as working while in school? Part-time/Per diem work? From the 2.0 curriculum it doesn't look like we start our specific tracks until the second year, and that our clinical practicums are the end of our second year... is that the only time we will have to arrange for preceptor and clinical sites? Is it possible to work full time our first year? Any information would be wonderful! I'm currently job hunting in the Seattle area... any natives that have advice, please let me know!
  7. Is anyone else in the FNP track?!
  8. I was also accepted! :) congrats again to all. I will see you in the fall in Seattle!
  9. Congrats to those who were accepted!!! Does anyone know if there is a way to see the decision online? Of course I go on vacation when they mail out decisions :)
  10. Hey everyone! Happy March :-) Hopefully we'll be hearing back this month!
  11. Hey heymabel and telee! I'm glad another DNP hopeful found this thread! Waiting is definitely the toughest part of this process. I was able to find acceptance rates listed by year to the DNP program broken down by specialty up until 2011. Here is the link for it. http://nursing.uw.edu/sites/default/files/files/T1-AL_Applications-Offers_Summary_120211.pdf If that doesn't work, try going to the school of nursing website and type in "acceptance rates" into the search bar on the website and the first response should bring you to it! Can't wait to see you all in Seattle come Fall! Mabel are you from Washington State?
  12. Hey Telee, I was going to PM you, but apparently the site only allows PMing after "15 quality topic" posts. I am currently living in North Carolina, but Washington State is where I am originally from. The application process took me awhile, I thought the hardest part was narrowing the essays down to 500 words! There was a lot I wanted to say! Do you know how the UW informs us of acceptance/rejection? Is it a letter in the mail/email, or is it posted online?
  13. Hey telee! I'm glad you found this thread :-) Are you also applying to the FNP route, or a different track? Have you heard anything about working full-time and doing the DNP at UW? I'm anxious for March already, waiting is the hardest part. Keep in touch.
  14. Hey - I am a recent grad from Duke University ABSN and am applying to the University of Washington DNP - FNP program. I was just curious if there is anyone else out there that also applied to the Fall 2014 start DNP program at UW. It would be nice to discuss the process together. :-)
