Hello Everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone else is part of the Spring 2016 cohort for Duke's FNP program. I am in the BSN-to-DNP program for FNP with a concentration in Cardiology. Just hoping to meet some fellow classmates, or hear some advice from students in the program now. I am very excited to get started!

Specializes in Stepdown, PCCN.

Not DNP, I'm in the MSN-FNP program starting spring 2016.

Congrats.

Looks like we will be in class together! Congrats to you also. Did you pick a concentration yet? It's good to connect with some others. I'm so excited but nervous. Where do you live?

I'm in Michigan. I'm so excited to get started and a little nervous mostly about time management. I'm not sure I will choose a concentration. I think I might just do FNP.

Hi applesandfishes!

I applied to Dukes MSN-AGNP program and have an interview for Fall 2016! Congrats on getting in and I know you're probably getting situated with orientation and starting in Spring soon!

Do you have any advice on what the interview is like, what questions they ask, and how many people were accepted for the AGNP concentration for your cohort?

Thanks and any advice/help would be much appreciated!

Hi TDang09,

I'm not sure about the MSN-AGNP, but I am now in the MSN-FNP, and I think they only interviewed 100, and accepted 40. Fortunately, my interview was very laid back and comfortable. We talked about the program structure itself, and I was also asked questions about why I chose to become a practitioner, where I saw my self in 10 years, and how I hoped to contribute to the profession. Just be yourself and you'll do fine.

I'm very pleased with my experience so far. Everyone genuinely seems to care about your success, which is refreshing. Best of luck to you! Let us know how it goes.

Hi there - curious if you got your acceptance letter yet. I also interviewed for the MSN-DNP/FNP and had a great interview. It was very laid back and felt quite natural. I have around 5 years of experience as a critical care RN in ER/trauma and ICU plus a ton of medical experience prior to that in the Army as a first responder. I'm curious about others experience and if you were accepted prior to the final decision letters (February 19th). Good luck to us all!!

I got in! MSN to DNP/FNP! I haven't accepted as I'm waiting on the other school I applied to - so excited either way!

Specializes in orthopedic/trauma, Informatics, diabetes.

I'm in the MSN-Informatics (Spring 2016) and just declared that I want to spend the extra year to get my DNP. Glad there are a few Dukies here :)

Specializes in Step-down ICU.

Those of you who are doing the DNP at Duke, can you speak the financial aid, and financial assistance available?
