Does anyone have any experience with this organization? I'm sending an application. I'm an experienced nurse who still hasn't found her niche. I'd like to give dialysis a go.

Any feedback on the company or any other insights would be appreciated.

I have worked for them for almost 10 years. It is a very good company. Not for profit, and good pt care is the priority. Benefits and staffing are good. I have heard, and read a lot of comments about other companies and I think I work for the best one. I am happy, and plan to retire in a few years from DCI.

If you get a chance for an interview take the opportunity to hear what they have to say.

Hi, I just started with DCI two weeks in. I'm working in Outpatient Unit. So far I think I'm going to like it the training is extensive and all the nurse I've talk to so far said it a great place to work and they could imagine working anywhere elsa. I have only been a nurse for 10months and Started out in Cardiac stepdown and that was just not for me on top it was a night position. At DCI we work 4 10hrs day with every other Saturday. Hope this help.

DCI will work you to death they are a non union company. Shift differential is for only 2 hours on the evening shift. They use and abuse you and then expect you to be so loyale to them. I've been there for 4 months and am looking for another job. I love dialysis but not with that company. The stay under staffed. So if you like overtime and want to be worked like a mule then go them.

I have worked in dialysis for years but never with DCI. However, I have heard very good things about them. I have a close relative who is a new dialysis pt and I referred her to DCI. I did not want her to go to FMC, which is where her doc wanted her to go. So far, I am impressed with her tx @ DCI. I would apply with them if they had any clinics where I live. I think the fact that they are non-profit makes all the difference.

I understand the nurse is responsible for 10 patients dialyzing at one time. That sounds like a lot compared to the reports of others. The shifts I'm being considered for are 12 hour shifts. I also have the option of applying for an 8-bed acute dialysis unit at the hospital where I work. That sounds interesting too.

10 pts is not bad at all. At other clinics, I've been the only nurse for 16 pts at a time.

From what I read here, with the exception of one poster, DCI sounds like a real treat ! :)

I had about given up on hearing anything GOOD about dialysis facilities anymore, but DCI appears to be that glimmer of light.

I'd say go for it... then let us know how it is !!! :D :D :D
