So I am on the web looking for a new glucometer annd there are a ton out there so let me know what is your favorite brand and why ! The one I have now is a one touch and it works well but I am having a hard time see it and have misread it 3 times now and that can be a bad thing :eek:I had a talking one from proagey but the thing was never right and 90% of the strips I had where bad .

Do you use a pump? If so, the OneTouch Ultra-link is easy to see, and will work with the "bolus wizard" feature on Medtronic's products (maybe others as well, not sure).

The UltraSmart isn't quite as large, in the display, but has lots of good trending & planning features.

Low cost, low tech, CVS has their mini-meter that sits on top of a bottle of strips for $10. display numbers are about 5/8" tall, IIRC, and strips are still about $1/each($25/bottle).

I like the Bayer Contour USB because it is small, gives quick results, log book is easily accessed when plugging it in to any computer usb port without a cable. Also I can use it as memory stick.

i love the aviva brand- and lancet device (6 lancets in a drum that fits in a pen-style injector)

and, they're made in the us, along with the strips. i haven't had any problem with them :)

Oh, Lord, is it shaped like a cap-gun?:clown: That's just funny, your little 6 shooter sticker!

Specializes in Nephrology.

I like the Accu-Chek Mobile--no strips to manage (I tend to drop a lot of them.... ;) The lancing pen is also one that uses the 6 lancet drum.

Never hard of that I will look into that one

It's called the Accu-Chek Compact in the US.

Specializes in Nephrology.

Actually, it isn't the same as the Accu-Chek Compact, both of them are available here. The Compact uses a drum with strips inside, the Mobile uses a cassette. Each cassette will do 50 tests. I can't see the Mobile on the Accu-Chek USA website, I know it has only been available here since the spring so maybe it is coming to the US soon? I know I really like it.
