Hi all,

I am a registered learning disability nurse. I am currently working in Sydney NSW Australia. I am a registered nurse who can only practice in the area of mental retardation ( a term i hate). Any advice on where i could appy for jobs in this area?? Thanks a million :)

Hi babyface, here in the US we no longer use that term mental retardation. A more appropriate term was constructed we now use "Developmental Disabilities". The term "mental retardation" in my state was found to be offensive to the individuals we serve and down right degrading.. So I am happy to say we have come a long way and still have a ways to go.. :redpinkhe

ddna.org - the have lots and lots on line.

i am a learning disability nurse and i will have a second registration in November as a mental health nurse too. I know it is tough to get a job as a mental health nurse due to experience but i am looking for jobs as a LD nurse. I am very confused but some people are telling me that i have to take the international english test inorder to get the job process started but others are saying that i do not need it. please help what should i do, if so without out the english test?
