Hi there everyone. I am a first yr student nurse--loving every minute of it so far

, especially since i finished my finals today--yippee! Anyway, I really had never considered corrections nursing until I just happened upon this forum. My mother works in corrections in Illinois as a counselor (paper-pusher). I was wondering if someone could give me a little info about this area of nursing? I read a little about the pay scales, benefits and such, but was wondering what a typical day is like for a corrections nurse. Illinois is currently building a max security mens prison about 20 miles from where I live and is supposed to be up and running around the time I graduate. Any info will be appreciated.
