Here are my very last questions. Please, please, please give me some good feedback, then I'm finished with the modules.;)

What would you say is the number one goal (aside from the ABC's) when you respond to an emergency in the yard?

When someone is seriously hurt in the yard does custody help control the inmates?

When someone in the maximum-security area of your prison has a medical emergency, what would you say is the average response time once the control center calls medical?

Have you ever responded to a medical emergency involving a DOC staff member or another nurse? If so, what happened?

Do female RN's catherize male inmates in your jail?

Do male RN's do breast exams on female inmates in your jail?

Do male RN's ever work with female inmates unchaperoned?

How would you say male working with female inmates differs from female working with male inmates?

#1 goal SAFETY

Security first--always--NO MATTER WHAT!! The security staff will secure the area before we intervene no exceptions

Immediate response time (close watch area) nursing has four minutes by policy to respond...but usually there

Never an emergency with staff. Thank God.

Yes, female's cath males--not unlike anywhere else

Don't have female inmates

1. The number one concern in respondinf to emergencies is the safety of all staff members, use must assess the situation for safety before responding this is even before ABC's

2. As with all emergencies, again, security is fiirst The situation and site must be conntrolled. and as far as secuity staff they are also the 1st responder and they also control the security at site. We as medical responders can refuse to go into the situation if we do not feel it is safe for us.

3. Our response time for emergencies is 4min or less.

4. Have responded we provide first aid and send to hospital per DOC policy. We respond to assults, falls ect. mostly the staff comes to infirmary. But i have responded to diabectic emergency, assessed and called 911 to ship.

4. Yes female staff cath men.

5. Breast exams are performed by PA or CRNP either male or female.

6. You can be uncaperoned if you chose, but most either have a caperone if requested

7. There should be no difference, professionalism should be maintained. that is not to say that this situation cannot be exploited. Accurate and complete documentation is the key to advoid situational complications. commen sense is also important, if it doesen't feel right , it isn't.
