They are going to furlough prison staff / medical staff?

I though they were going to do a mass release; I think the public should see what its like to deal with thousands of inmates they need some perspective...

From what I understand 24/7 care/protection is still be provided, but the staff build up furlough days that have to be used up within two years after the furlough program ends. I was just looking for some detail re: exactly how that works as far as pay, vacation time, sick time ect... It is a little confusing. As far as doing a mass release, that is still up in the air from what I have been able to gleam out of the budget hearings. But it does look like some offenders will be released, deported or handed over to the Feds.

Nevada started furloughs July 1. The DOC director appears before a board in August in an attempt to exempt at least line level nurses (plus most in the correctional officer class). As a DON I will have to take my furlough (one day per month) one way or the other, but at least some of my staff might escape it. If I do have to furlough nurses it will get interesting - we only have one nurse on duty on night shift. For now I have been instructed not to furlough any nurses - which I hope doesn't mean that we have to apply extra furlough days retroactively if the director doesn't get his wish.

I work for cdcr and we don’t get days off what happens is your monthly base pay is reduced by the current 3 days (soon maybe 4) which is 24 hours and the time is placed on the books which you can use later like a forced vacation bank lol. You must use them by August 2010 I think that’s the date. People are really upset and are starting to call in sick in masses and using the furlough time which kind of bad for us that show up because we have to get redirected to cover the open spots.
