Stamford Hospital GEMS Program 2014

U.S.A. Connecticut

Published

Hey everyone,

I applied for the May 2014 GEMS Program at Stamford Hospital. I know there is a thread already for the GEMS program but it has been inactive for a while. I know the deadline was March 16th, 2014 and in an e-mail I received shortly after submitting my application stated that candidates would be contacted if Stamford was interested. Did anyone get a call back? If so, can you share your qualifications (i.e GPA and any experience you felt gave you an advantage)

Hi all:

Hoping if someone can shed light on the GEMS timing/application process. Applied for Feb 2015, received just a generic e-mail saying application was received. Do you know when they start contacting people for Feb?

Thanks!

hey INN_777:

I applied for the Feb 2015 too. The generic e-mail said November they would contact people if they were interested.

Yes, thank you. Just got that too! Good luck!

Hi everyone. I also applied for med-surg and maternity. Good luck everyone! I hope we're future colleagues.

Does anyone know how many people the program takes? I looks like they have several start times throughout the year, so I'm wondering how much is based on their current staffing needs and how much is anticipating what needs might come up in the future. Does anyone know if the numbers fluctuate or if they look for an approximate number for each class?

I'm also a little worried because I graduate in Dec., so if I apply during this round, I won't have my license yet. Theoretically, I will have it before the program starts in Feb., but don't know if Stamford is willing to take a risk that I might not pass NCLEX the first try. I know it says it's okay to apply before getting your license, but don't know if they actually accept people who haven't completed the process. Anyone know how important it is to be licensed?

Anyone heard anything for 2015 yet?

Hi turtles, it's fine, they realize many of us graduate in December and will not have their license yet. For the new grad program they are just looking for you to get licensed by the program start. Good luck!

I haven't. Their standard reply e-mail said they should be contacting in November if we are selected.

Man, these residencies take their sweet time. *frustrated sigh*

Anyone hear anything yet? I'm hoping to hear back about the Feb session.

Nope - crickets over here.

Fingers still crossed, but not holding my breath.

I figure it's a long-shot, unless you have a particular "in," which I don't. My grades are good, and I'll have a BSN to my name, but no idea what they are really looking for.
