Do you think another CC should offer a nursing program

Curious on feedback I know nursing educators are in a shortage now. Just with regions think the CC in Danielson would be a great idea to start another nursing program.

Also seen other state CC offer Entry RN TO BSN program's where you complete your ADN and then go on to a BSN program with local college they partner with. So don't have to reapply. Think NVCC does something similar. For example Gateway to SCSU. Capital to CCSU.

I'm not sure whether the region general can handle more graduates without totally saturating the market at some point. If anyone is considering nursing because of the media reported "shortage", it doesn't appear to be the reality, at least not here in CT. I graduated over three years ago and I know many of my classmates didn't find employment for a LONG time. Unless people are going through the CC system and then moving out of state to find work, it might be a disservice in the long-run, especially for an ADN program, to expand the program.

I believe that Three Rivers also has agreements with Eastern at this point to complete the BSN degree.

^^^Does Eastern offer a BSN program? Just curious I work in the mental health field there is a hospital I notice has a lot of openings for counselor's thinking of moving up that way if able to secure a job.

ECSU does not offer a BSN. They have an allied health bachelors that will help you get into a 2nd bachelors accelerated nursing program, but no nursing at Eastern. TRCC has transfer agreements with SCSU, CCSU, and WCSU. They have agreements with many other schools, but the state schools tend to be much cheaper. If I can't find employment in CT, I can see moving to where I'm needed... and where I can get the most experience to move up the ladder. As I understand, in CT with just an ASN, it's harder to get into specialties.

There are too many nursing programs as it is. All of the CT community colleges with nursing programs have an agreement with several Universities
