CT-CCNP 2015 applicants

U.S.A. Connecticut

Published

Hello,

I've seen similar threads for previous years applicants. It would be fun to get to know some of the other applicants and be able I share info and cheer each other on. I'll start,

i applied to NVCC and chose capital as my second choice school. I got an 84.7% on my TEAS V, an A in A&P1, and my nursing gpa is a 3.7(ish) I believe.

I am taking A&P2 this spring, and have to jam micro into the summer.. But I'm super excited!

Hi I am applying for the program for the fall. It's getting to crunch time for me because I wasn't sure and just decided. I have the teas scheduled for the 23rd so I have only one shot lol. I took A&PI over the summer and concepts of Chemistry and A&PII this past fall. Taking micro in the spring. Capital is my first choice then New Haven my second. I have a quick question about the nursing GPA...is that the GPA for chemistry, and A&PI?

Hello everyone, this is my very first post here on ALLNURSES I'm very excited! I recently applied for the nursing program at Capital for the Fall 2015 semester—my stats look like this...

A&P 1: A

TEAS V: 75.3%

Nursing GPA: 4.0

I'm starting A&P II this coming spring semester and plan on taking micro bio in the summer at middlesex community college. I also got accepted into the pre-nursing program at Central Connecticut SU...I am one class away (organic chem) from being able to apply to the nursing major at CCSU, but unfortunately have no time to take bio chem in time to apply to the nursing major in the fall at CCSU. So if I enter there as a pre-nursing student in the fall I am looking at 4 more years of school because of how the application dates work out. I am 30 years old with two young children and have already been taking pre-reqs for the past two years at MXCC, so I want to get into the field and working as soon as possible. I'm thinking ADN and then a BSN program hopefully online—I have several years of previous hospital experience as an operating room anesthesia technician in the military and in the civilian sector. Good luck to everyone, I'm looking forward to meeting all of you on here!

The nursing GPA is for all the required pre-reqs except A&P, which is a separate 25% of the equation, plus any other course required for the program. So your nursing GPA would include chem, A&P II, English comp, computer applications, etc. I believe it would also include any courses you have already taken that are considered part of the program. So if you've taken microbio or sociology already, for example, those courses would be factored in, even though you don't have to have taken them yet. Does that make sense?

Hello,I am also applying to the ct ccnp program. I applied to Ncc and gcc as my second choice. I am a second degree hopeful. I did computer science and I am currently working in IT but needed a change of pace. My stats are A&P I -ATeas 84%Nursing gpa 4.0(if based on the other require courses)I was not able to take a&PII in the fall so I am taking it this spring with microbio. I also applied to scsu ace program, Bridgeport hospital, and nassua community college in long island. Good luck to everyone.

Has anyone taken organic chemistry? is it harder than Chem 111 concepts of chemistry?

I am also taking A&P II in the spring and micro bio in the summer at MXCC.

Has anyone taken organic chemistry? is it harder than Chem 111 concepts of chemistry?

Orgo is MUCH harder than Chem 111. Actually, you need to take General Chem 1 and General Chem 2 before you can take Orgo. Orgo is a prereq for med school, not nursing school.

Chem 111 is the easiest, most basic chem you can take. I took General Chem 1, and by the time I was about half way through the course, the peer tutor in the academic center couldn't help me anymore because he'd only taken Concepts of Chem, and my homework problems were beyond what he'd learned in Chem 111. That's not to say Chem 111 will be a walk in the park if you don't remember much from high school chem (many people struggle), but it's much more doable than organic chem.

Everyone that posted here has a great chance of getting in

Yes everyone who posted seems to have a great shot at getting in! Does anyone know the date we should hear if we got in or was waitlisted? I feel like April is soo far away!

Murse203- do you mean northwestern and gateway? They are both at opposite ends of the state, is your home closer to northwestern?

Great stats everyone! I'm in my second semester at NCC, if you have any questions let me know :)
