CCC-NP Waitlist-2013

U.S.A. Connecticut

Published

I wanted to start another thread rather than tying up the other one. :)

So, I figure we can post our stats, and our waitlist number (when we get them) and use this thread to discuss what we can and/or plan to do next.

For me:

  • 89% on TEAS-V
  • 3.6 GPA/NGPA (all my courses are required for the program)
  • B- in A&PI
  • B- in Chemistry
  • The rest of my grades were A/A-
  • I don't know my number on the waitlist yet

I have an A- right now in A&PII, I'm not sure if it will be necessary to take A&PI again to get a better grade.

I suppose I could retake Chemistry. Or take Bio-Chemistry which is often required for a BSN program. A better grade in this would raise my GPA.

I could also retake the TEAS-V to get a higher result as well.

I'm curious how many were admitted off the waitlist last year.

Commence whining and wallowing in self-pity:

I have been nose to the grindstone for the last year and a half. I have been driven by only one purpose and one goal, to get into THIS program. I didn't apply anywhere else. I have already survived one nursing program for 18 months and finished in the top of my class. I have agonized my entire school career over any grade less than an A-.

I have sacrificed time with my children (five of them, ages 17, 15, 11, 10 and 7), I have neglected my fiance, my friends, my extended family, my house and my health. I have been hyperfocused and stressed. I have sacrificed work and therefore money in order to commit more time to studying. I have denied my kids the material things they want.

I promised my children, my friends and my family that ALL of their support and their own sacrifices to help me achieve this goal would be worth it.

Telling all of these people that I love that I didn't get a seat was the worst news I have had to deliver. I feel like I have let them down. I have let myself down. I know it would be easiest to just wait and see what number I am, maybe I will still have a chance. Waiting and seeing is not where my skill set lies. Getting things done. Setting a goal and achieving it. That's what I do. I have never NOT accomplished any goal I have set to accomplish. I am type A and OCD.

I do the math in my head; 160 seats, 75% by rank 25% by lottery so 120 seats ahead of me by rank, 40 seats ahead of me by lottery. And who knows where I'll end up on the waitlist. Not only am I not in the top, I could very well be at the very bottom. It's really hard for me to swallow this. It makes me question my ability to be a vehicle to get to where I want to go. When I have done my very best, with more effort invested than I ever have, and it's not good enough. It rattles a person's confidence.

The only thing that will make me feel better is establishing and beginning the work of moving toward a new goal, which I am still trying to figure out. I was caught off guard by not considering the idea that I wouldn't get a seat. This is my own fault and I will from here out always have a Plan A, B, C through Z!!

I've been knocked off-kilter a bit but I'll get back straight again soon enough.

I was told by an advisor at TRCC that if you get a spot off of the wait list, you only start in the spring so they require you to have micro completed in order to accept a spot. I have no idea why it's like that, because you're right, the info pocket does tell us we have until our first semester to complete it....

Staying positive is a good thing!! Keep it up :)

I found the email .. I will paste it below:

If you are not accepted and are on the wait list, you will want to have Micro finished by Spring in order to accept a seat. So, if you are asking if you should register for Micro, then, yes. If you want to be accepted off the wait list, you will need Micro complete by the Spring semester.

So you should be good taking it in the Fall still!! Hope this helps.

Talked to someone in the Nursing Admissions on Friday. They have never taken someone off past 30 or so, typically. As for other schools choosing you, I have no idea. Positive thoughts to all on the waiting list and starting in the Fall :-)

Glad you could finally get in touch with someone!! Did they tell you where they were at on the list by any chance?

As of Friday, 11 at TRCC.

Is someone know about Capital CC waiting list? i got exhausted to wait for their call. I hate to waittttt. please help me out...... from this stress and anxiety.....

I think I remember seeing some info somewhere on this feed about Capitals wait list, you can try looking back! I know it's a lot of pages to go through though. I feel your pain with the waiting anxiety! Hopefully we hear soon! Good luck.

Thank you Jem 909. I know it, I called the admission on last Friday. She told me, they already finished, and the class full. They will not call the waiting list student up to this point. However, on Monday I will walk in to talk with adviser and ask him what going on with it. Then, I will let you guys know. Do you mind, if i want to ask about your waiting number. if you can do so. I will appreciate that.

I am getting frustrated with this whole wait list thing. It really get's to me that they are saying the classes are full and complete, but they really are not they are just waiting for people to still come in and register for these spots. I just don't get it. If I was called for a spot I would be right there ready to register and get my stuff in order. If you go on mycommnet you can clearly see that there is 21 spots at CC waiting to be registered for, 10 spots at NVCC waiting to be registered for and so on. I understand that these spots are claimed. I just don't get why people wait till the last minute to either register or drop. They tell me at Gateway they have till the first day of class to register and drop. I find that really crazy because people like us are so ready and willing to register and be ready for the first day of class. So basically these spots end up going to waste and noone gets them. I really just don't get it. Ok now that I vented... Lol!! I am just going to look at it as they are done calling people on the waitlists and start the application process all over again. :sarcastic:

Rnlaos I am #15 at Three Rivers.. Keeping my fingers crossed! I think their Fall section is full, but I was told all waitisted students offered a spot go into the Spring cohort and that schedule isn't posted yet :( I wish I could see it. I also was told that for TRCC you have to complete micro by the end of Fall to accept a spot, which is ridiculous for anyone who hasn't taken it because a) they don't tell you that anywhere in the handbook, and b) that class is really hard to take especially in the summer! I agree that people should have to register ASAP. We are all SO anxious and waiting.. I would go down there right now in my pajamas if they called me haha. Just kidding.. Maybe :) Hopefully they aren't really "full" and you ladies can get a little bit more info from the office when you call! Good luck!!

I don't know if this will make you feel better or not, but Norwalk has already pulled 16 people from their waiting list.
