I had a couple questions about the school and prereqs. Their website says they will not accept any classes that are over 10 years old. I have finished most of the prereqs, only have a few left. However, General Sociology and General Psych are 10 years old (1996 and 1997). But I have taken other Soc and Psych classes in the last five years. Will those count, or do I still have to retake General Soc and Psych?

Also, how competitive is it to get into the program? I have gotten A's and B's in all my classes, and expect to in my last few courses. They say at least a GPA of 3.0, but do they really only accept people with much higher GPA's?

And lastly, for those that are going, or have gone, what are your opinions on the school, teachers, classes, clinical, etc? I have only heard good things so far, but would like more opinions. Thanks.

Congrats kasperas! :balloons:

Hi,

I was hoping someone could clarify something for me. I have a bachelor's degree that is 11 years old and am really looking at UCD. I've read on these boards they don't accept classes that are 10 years old for pre-reqs. So, does that mean they won't look at my grades from my previous degree when deciding on acceptance? Since my degree is 11 years old. If this is true that would be great (my GPA was just at 3.0)

I still need to get my pre-reqs done and knowing I have a clean slate to work from would really help.

Thanks in advance for those who respond!

Bachelor degrees don't expire. And if you have one, you don't need all the pre req's. If you look on their website it talks about it. I know you need A&P, can't remember the other class you need.

Thank you! I did check out their site and I have to take A & P, Micro & Statistics

My question was more about if they would still look at my GPA from my previous BS degree since all the classes I took for that degree are over 10 years old.

I thought someone had posted about this awhile ago but I wasn't sure if it only pertained to those who didn't have a bachelor degree. Thanks again!

Hi,

They do count your previous GPA. They count your essay, your pre-req GPA and accumulate GPA. So your baccelor degree count as accumulate GPA.

That is what I figured. Guess I'll either got to DSON or wait it out on the community college waitlist. Thanks a bunch for the information!

I wouldn't give up hope that quickly. My undergrad GPA was 3.2 (although from a fairly prestigious state school), I had As in stat, micro, physiology and anatomy lab, but a B in anatomy from my previous degree, and I was admitted from the waitlist even though I'm from out of state. If you get As in all your prereqs and have a really good essay you may have a chance. Plus any classes you take now will be added into your cummulative GPA, which will help bring it up. I had to calculate my final cummulative GPA for one of the schools I applied to, and all the prerequisites I took for different programs pulled it up to about a 3.4.

It's worth at least applying, as long as you meet the 3.0 minimum they require, because you only need the 4 prereqs, so you will probaby take them all anyway for other schools.
