Ppcc nursing program?

Hello! I am new to this site. I recently received my CNA and I plan to eventually become an RN in labor and delivery. I am registered to begin my prerequisites at PPCC this fall. I was just wondering if anyone else went to ppcc and how long their prerequisites took? How long did the ADN program take?

I am taking Math 103 for clinical calculations, English 121, and Psychology 101 for the first semester. I'll have class three days a week.

I am also a mother to a 16 month old. Any tips for getting through nursing school with a toddler? Also, my husband and I want more kids, ideally we would like to wait until I finish my associates degree to have a second child, but if I've correctly estimated the length of the prerequisites and adn program together our son will be 4 by the time I'm done. That's a little more of an age gap between our kids than we'd like, but if it's better to wait that would be fine with us...

I applied to two schools, including PPCC, and the pre-requisites covering both took me one year (Spring, Summer, Fall). Would I do it again? Probably not, A&P in 5 weeks is not ideal. PPCC only looks at your pre-req GPA as opposed to cumulative, so you should schedule your classes in such a way that you can take the time to get the highest grades possible in those 4 courses. After this semester, it's likely to take you two additional semesters (unless you test out of Bio 111). I do not currently attend PPCC, so I can't offer any insight into that particular program. As for having another child - I would certainly consider waiting. I don't have kids, and I have a difficult enough time completing all my work and care plans as it is.

The PPCC program is excellent. Number one in the state of Colorado! The prereqs don't take too long. I think most people take about a year to complete them (maybe more if you need BIO 111 and Intro to psych). My recommendation is also to complete Pathophysiology, Nutrition, and Math for Clinical Calculations BEFORE you enter the program, so that you can focus only on the nursing courses when you start. I also have small children at home and it is definitely tough, but doable. I would not recommend having another one before you graduate, but everyone is different and you have to do what is right for you.

I'm not at PPCC, but I just finished my prereqs and am starting nursing school this fall. It took me two years to complete, but I did it part time. I started with only online classes because of my kids ages and my work schedule. Last year I took the science classes and went on campus for a couple days a week. You can easily do it in a year though if you can handle the workload. The ADN programs are typically 2 years, summers off.

I do have 2 kids, but I waited until they were older and in school before I decided to go back. It will certainly be a challenge with a toddler. I suggest just having a good support system in place. Husband, family, friends, anyone that can help you with your kid and stuff around the house so you can get to class and have adequate time for studying.
