Financial help for single mom

U.S.A. Colorado

I am not interested in loans and was wondering if anyone knows how do you get the money to attend nursing school? All I ever hear about is how there is money for single moms to attend school. I have a mortgage and am not working currently and have only recieved enough to cover books. Do they ever give you enough money to cover your expenses, such as daycare, food, gas, utilities? I don't want to work while I am in nursing school for fear of failing and never seeing my infant child. So where is the money that every one always talks about concerning single moms like me? Thanks for your replies!

Well, I'll be honest with you. I'm a single mom as well and there is no such thing as free money. You can try to get a scholarship, which they do have for single moms, but you also have to have a good GPA and other factors, depending on the scholarship. I, myself, am going to get loans because I personally think that it is an investment in my future. I would rather pay monthly payments when I get out of school than be stuck in a dead end job (even a well paying dead end job). I will also eventually get a part time job while working in school because I, too, have a mortgage that needs to be paid.

If there is something that I'm missing, I would love to know. But, I don't think I am. Good luck!

:loveya:Thank you for responding. I have been hearing for a while now how there is all this money out there for school and I couldn't figure out how people were surviving during school. I'm going to check out scholarships and see how that goes for me. I've heard horror stories w/ loans and interest rates and if I have to go that route, it will be a last resort attempt. Good lick too you in your career as a nurse.
