Avg. GPA for nursing program at UCCS (Beth-El)

U.S.A. Colorado

Published

Hello All,

I just applied to UCCS for Spring 2012. I am curious if anyone actually admitted to the program can tell me what the avg. GPA is for being accpeted. I would be an out-of-state transfer student. I currently have a 3.3 and am wondering what my chances are.

Any tips or advice?

Also, anyone know what the entrance exam consists of? Is it similar to the TEAS exam? Do you know what the pass rate is?

Any information about this program is greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome to the site.

I moved your thread to the CO Nursing Programs Duscussion forum where I think you will get more responses.

Good luck.

Hello,

I am also looking at this school. Do you have any updates?

I do actually have more info. I was admitted to UCCS and have now completed four semesters there. I was admitted as pre-nursing and completed a semester before taking the HESI.

The HESI was was very straight-forward. Get the study book and study it. I know a lot of people that didn't study and didnt get a high enough score the first try. There is also a lot of great flashcards available on quizlet.com, just type in HESI A2.

In regards to what they look for: Admission is based on a 5-fold criteria. 1 part for GPA (that's it, so a less than stellar GPA is okay, you do have to have a 3.0 though). The other 4 parts are based on your core HESI scores. So do good on that test!

I had a 3.3 GPA but scored a 96 overall on the HESI.

I'm currently a Junior and I love the program. Great instructors (well mostly haha), good hospitals, and a fantastic simulation lab.

Please let me know any other questions you might have.

thank you very much elliott.

I'm also a nursing student at UCCS/Beth-El. I have just completed my junior year and will (finally!) be starting my senior year in the fall. I'm in the traditional program. I scored low on my HESI. I don't remember my final score, but it was low 90s (maybe 92??), and I think I got an 88 on one section - I waited till the last minute to cram...definitely would not recommend that. Lol. Elliotth77 has the right idea - get a study book and go through it. It's fairly straightforward, especially if you did well in the prereqs. I was lucky because my GPA - 3.93 before nursing school - got me in. Most of my friends here had lower GPAs but did better on the HESI. (3.3-3.5-ish GPA and 95-ish HESI, sorry I don't have exact numbers, those are just guesstimates from different conversations we've had about grades)

And it really is an awesome program! I've had a blast in all my clinical placements, and even when a clinical instructor is kind of rough, I still learn a lot from them. I hope you get in, reebokHCFR. It's really great! :)

If you have any other questions about Beth-El or applying, let us know. Nursing school is my life, so it's basically all I talk about. :p

Hello! Those that got accepted into Beth-El.. do you guys have any tips on the interview process? Does anyone remember any of the questions the interviewers asked?

Thanks ahead of time!
