Volunteer work did paid off

So I completed my first CNA class my senior year in high school. Back then we were in a recession similar to the one about to exit our country. I was just out of with no job. I was bored and desided to ask the local community clinic if I could volunteer some time.

The nurses were happy to have me there as volunteer. Within a month, I took the position of a employee who had been in an auto accident. Soon the DON of the entire county health services, asked me to take a paid position. To make the story short. While I was processing to become permanent an earthquake made the 8-story building colapse. End of the story---I didn't persue nursing anymore.

Now that I'm ready for a career change, and going back to persue nursing, I put in an application for the same position then (nursing attendant I). Well, I got the position based on my volunteer work from back then. Since I volunteered for a long time, I didn't get nursing attendant I title, but II with higher pay. Since I still remember how to assist in the OB/GYN clinics, I'll be skipping training.

Moral of the story: Voluteering can be good

Few months ago I came to this one facility near my home to apply for the volunteer position and have to submitted the TB skin test paper. And the volunteer coordinator told me to wait for her call. But it's already 3 wks but I still didnt hear anything from her so I called in and she said she's still waiting for the nurse to give the orientation date so she tell me to wait for her call again. Still didnt hear anything from her so 3 wks later I call again and she said the same thing. And recently I call her again (3rd times) and she said she waiting for another girl to turn in her paper and waiting for the orientation date and she said she will call me so she tell me just wait. And that's the last time I called her. Til now I still didnt hear anything from that coordinator at all. I feel so upset:crying2: and feel like she is turning me down b/c I really like to volunteer there, the main reason is b/c it's only a few blocks away from my home. I know I can go other places to volunteer too but I have to take the bus so it really take lots of times that's why I hope I can volunteer at that place near my home. To be honest I didnt like this coordinator at all b/c I told her to call me when the orientation date is scheduled and I told her how much I like to work here as a volunteer but she kept said "a-ha, a-ha, a-ha", so I feel like she is just fooling around w/ me:mad:. I hope she would tell me the straight answer like if she doesnt need anymore volunteer so that I know and keep up but no she doesnt tell me that instead she kept told me to wait for her call. I feel like I have to wait til millions yrs:confused: later to hear the answer from her then. I am a very patience person but this waiting is really driving me nut, especially the way that she's talking to me I have a gut feeling that she is not saying seriously w/ me. The way that she talking to me sound so faking.

So can someone please let me know whether I shall call in again later to ask the coordinator about that or not. I :heartbeat to work there so much as a volunteer position but it seem like my hope is turn down now:crying2:.

I have another question, does a volunteering orientation would cost the facility money or not? If yes can that be the reason that why she's not call me in to volunteering then?

Yes, I feel like I have got my CNA jobs in hospitals because I have volunteered in them:)

It really does pay off to volunteer. I got my first full time CNA job at a facility I had volunteered in. The DON didn't even have to interview me, she just asked if I wanted the position (and of course I said yes :)).
