Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

Hello to all :yeah:my name is Pinke,I often lurked but this is my first time posting.:lol2: I will be taking my CNA Prometric this Thursday at HFCC- M-Tec (Dearborn, MI) and I'm kinda freaking. I went to the school today to work on a couple of things (kinda like a refresher), but nerves haven't claimed down yet. Have anyone taking their testing there that can give me a little insight in the testing process. I'm claiming that I will be posting on later this week I'M A CNA!!!:nurse:

Would love all feed back, and thank you in advance.

Specializes in Peds OR as RN, Peds ENT as NP.

Oh, well today is thursday so I probably am too late to give you advice. Prometric has this booklet with all the skills you could be tested on and that the testgivers evaluate you by. If you follow that, you should be fine.

Remember if you ever make a mistake you can say "I forgot to do this" as long as it is before you wash your hands as the last step. Oh make sure you wash your hands and wear gloves when neccessary.

Take your time and remember to always look at things from the patient's view (i.e. it will be the patients left or right, not yours).

Good luck and I hope to see you post as a CNA. If not, I failed my first try also.

I failed:confused: and when I say I busted out crying, OMG!!!! I felt so embarrassed yet a failure. I left substance in the drainage bag. HOW COULD I!!!! but after seeing your post I actually felt a lot netter, thank you. Hope to be able to retake before the end of the month. Abd would you believe I aced both practice knowledge exams.....BUT THANKS YOU JUST KNOW HOW MUCH YOUR MESSAGE MEAN!!!!

I"m sorry to hear that you didn't pass but am glad that you can retake in a month. The good news is you can always try again! You aced two practice exams and you knew what you had done wrong - there's no doubt in my mind that you will have better luck - "knowledge" next time.

I am new to this whole CNA testing - does it cost a lot of money each time you take the test?

Keep us posted on your certification progress.

Today is my retake....to retake the knowlege it cost me $134 to retake knowledge its 75

What clinical skills did Rn asked you to perform? Can anyone give more details?

Thank you.

I passed on my second try...and of course I got that one skill that I failed. My first time my skills were; dressing patient with weak right side, drainage of cather bag, and ROM lower.

And the second time, drainage of catheter bag, cathere care, and transfer. They were excellent and my nurse was patient. I also had a dummy and a live model. Good luck and hope this help.

Toi121, CONGRATS! I am happy for you.

What did you do to study? Did you take a class?

Here in Michigan it's required to take a training course or finished 1st semester of nursing program

I see ... I am going to try pass without training, but with preparation.
