  1. above $15.00/hr you can find at UCLA Med. Center. Cedar Sinai pays good (as I was told).
  2. I know this: in Los Angeles you can make anywhere from $9.00/hr to $16.00 depending on location, type of facility and experience.
  3. I see ... I am going to try pass without training, but with preparation.
  4. Toi121, CONGRATS! I am happy for you. What did you do to study? Did you take a class?
  5. What clinical skills did Rn asked you to perform? Can anyone give more details? Thank you.
  6. Exactly! I am in a similar boat. Once you have past college credits and you are done with pre-reqs for nursing program it takes the same amount of time to complete BSN. So, yes you pay more money for university rather than community college, but in my opinion, it it worth it. You get your Bachelor and an RN license. Go for it!!!
  7. Thanks, jo'ee. Drawing with chalk would be fun. Or maybe I should take a marker and try on my husband ... Hilarious!!!! Yes, I have the CD - it is great. I am not using it as often as I should, probably.
  8. I will definitely try that. Will go today! :)
  9. I know ... I know ... I am better around people and being able to discuss things. I am a sucker at straight memorization. I think a lot of my problems have to do with they way this class is designed: isolation. I might as well challenge the classes, because I am learning everything all on my own. No different than online class (in this college).
  10. Dear shortnorthstudent, as I can see some people has done it. I can't go to open labs ... I am in LA and school is in Arizona. I have to take 2 more classes A&P II and MicroBio before I can get in into the nursing program. I have seen some nurses, who were not interested in their work, could not explain things and sort of ignorant... and I wonder "how in the world did they pass anatomy or nursing school ?" Since we have such a short time to learn a subject, I tend to concentrate on completing homework or quiz, rather than learning the subject. Tough one.
  11. Can't thank you enough for taking your time to post a message. I know there have been many of "me" - crying out loud. Anyway, I think I am going to try and separate my flash card nightmare into groups: body parts and take it group at a time. I will try the website and the colouring book too. Most of all, it was great to hear that there are some crazy people like me: doing it all. If you made it, I can too. You all made me feel much better ... and who knows ... you might have just made a difference in someone's life - mine. Feeling more optimistic about it. Thank you!:)
  12. Thank you, "brittany_micah" and "MedSurg32RN". I know, online format is not the best option, but for me it is the only option for now. I just must continue with school or I will never get to the end. I have not found a good way to study ... as you can tell. I tried flash cards and they seem to work, but I ran out of time: by the time I write cards and read chapter, I need to complete labs and prepare for weekly quizzes ... I do not have time to go over the flash cards. So, they end up just taking laying there. I can not contact anyone in my class - only teacher. And when I took my first test, and got 67% on it, she said "Keep up a good work" or "You are doing great". I need to stick it out ... What are other ways of studying and memorizing? How many hours do you, guys, study a week? or did study?
  13. Hey, she.b! Since you have 6 more gen.ed. classes to take - take them. Meanwhile you can start looking around for schools. Most of them have waiting lists. Remember, different schools have different pre-reqs for entering into the program. Since you do not have a Bachelors, you have these options: 1. Get LVN - about 1.5 to 2 years in private schools Then you can get into a bridge program LVN-BSN (about 1.5 year) 2. Get ASN (RN license included) - 2 years at community college 3. Go straight for BSN will take you about 3 years. I hope it was helpful.
  14. Girls and boys, I usually do not write on forums or comment on blogs; no one in my real world understands what I am going through, but you might. Here is a bit of history: I am a full-time employee, a mother of 2 little boys and taking darned A&PI online through Rio Salado College. I have always been an A student, but it sure feels like I am getting a C or F in this one. In Rio we do not get feedback on the tests we take (so I have no way of knowing what I got wrong) and we do not have discussion board for students to talk. I feel like I am the only student of A&PI in USA. This week we are required to read through chapter 10 and learn all the muscles. We are talking about all human muscles. I know I may be freaking out, but can it be done in such a short amount of time? I would appreciate any encouraging words from any of you. My dream is to become a RNFA and donate my time to the community and people who need it, to be able to give my skills to some who don't have them. I worked in the hospital as a CNA on medsurg and er floors, I absolutly love patients, love listening to them and hearing their story ... but sometimes I wonder if I am not cut out for this because of this class ... 16 weeks of nightmare. Help, friends! My desperate call.
