Should I keep looking for a CNA job or go to LVN school?

I just got accepted to a LVN progra at a school that told me I would not be accepted because twenty studnts would have to turn down their spots since it is a first come first serve waitlist. Each year they take applications and the first twenty qualified students are accepted, well those twenty students were either not qualified or turned down their spots because I was accepted today!

I'm able to recieve financial aid and know I have tuition and books paid even if I don't get a loan. I also get a bit of child support which should cover our rent while I'm in school for a year. Since I am having such a hard time finding a CNA job I think I should jump on this opportunity even though it would mean packing up and moving in one week! My pre reqs are all almost three years old so if I apply to some schools again next fall I would have to repeat two classes! I'm a nervous wreck! What would you do if you were in my shoes?

Take the opportunity to go to LVN school. Things might be tight till you finish school but in the long run you will be better off.

Don't wait to get some CNA job! You can try to get a job while you're in school, but it shouldn't be your first priority. Do the LPN! Congrats on getting in. That's no small feat.

Thanks everyone! I forgot to take my kids off the daycare waitlist when I was told last month I would not get in so that should be easy enought to arrange for Monday. I need to find a cheap apartment and rent a moving truck! It's two simple tasks a week is plenty of time right?:)

I've moved with 12 hours hotice, so a week is plenty of time. And that was with an infant and a toddler in the house. Congratulation on getting inot nursing school! I am hoping to be giving the same great news next Spring. Good luck!

Thanks rivershark! Everyone on this board is so motivational. Over on the LPN/LVN board the gals are being super snarky to me! I know I can move if I just motivate myself to get 'er done!

It's soo not working out! I found a group of university students that want to rent a house for only 9 months so when I called my landlord to ask about how to sublet to them they said 'we don't approve sublets'!!!! So I guess I'm stuck here for the rest of the year, lol. There is no way my car could handle commuting four hours each day and the gas for that would be outrageous. Eventually I'll become a nurse but that eventually does not seem to be right now. Thanks for the encouragement though!
