New York State is rather large. Have you narrowed down location? Have you searched and applied for jobs? Do you have NY CNA certification?

Average salary for an experienced CNA in that area is $13-15. LPNs make $20.

How else have you looked for jobs? On the local LTC/hospitals' websites? I think a search like that will be a lot more productive than asking a bunch of nurses.

If you're considering Long Island, I work in a nursing home (I'm newly certified, no experience) and I make $19 an hour (per-diem) There are a number of locations on LI that start at $19/$20 per hour. Good luck!
