Question for 2nd shift

  1. 0
I've been working 7-3 for six months now. However, I am going to work a few 3-11 shifts also. I've been trying to get an idea as to what evening shift does. On every thread it mentions that they give people showers. Im a little confused. On 7-3 I wash every individual up, why would you wash them up twice in one day? Just curious, I haven't worked 3-11 before so I have no idea.
    Thanks in advance!

The hospital I worked in previously we washed up people in the morning and again in the evenings (seemed kinda silly to me). The hospital I work in now we just wash up patients in the morning and as needed in the evening. Sometimes the day shift doesn't have time to do a bath or shower during the day so we do it in the evening but it's not the norm. I find that the evenings tend to be a bit slower, not to say that it's not busy though.

Love your pic! As for the showers, it all depends on the facility.

At my facility, it's really slow at first until after supper it speeds up. We have to do BP's, temps, sugars..just depends. We also have our residents on "shower schedules", so half of them get a shower or bath during the day & the other half at night. We usually start getting residents in bed between 9-10, although we have some all nighters. Other than that it's just answering call lights or whatever system you use. And if noones ringing..lucky you! Ha but we also are supposed to reset the dining room & do laundry.
