Prometric CNA testing,schedule and practice

I'm applying for PCT and CNA hospital jobs that say second semester nursing students can apply , I'm 4th semester and I'm having no luck so I figured getting my actual CNA would get me in a hospital or nursing home before I graduate.

However. I'm a bit put off by prometric procedures and trying to find out how things work for previous CNA test takers. This is for florida by the way.

First off they no longer pay for fingerprinting even though the cost almost doubled between 2013 and 2014.

Secondly, I called them last week after I applied to find out how the process works as far as sending me to a proctor, they said they choose the date but may allow me the preference, so I told them what date I was available. This was done the day after I applied. Today I got the notice for my test and behold its the wrong date and it a date I have nursing school.

The odd thing is they charge $30 to reschedule the test and it like they purposely giving people dates they do not want.

My question is do they ever allow people to choose the date of their CNA test?

Next question is on the day of the test apparently the nurse gives instruction as to what skills are to be performed. According to this document I have linked

The test taker can read this skill instructions document at any time to ensure the skills are being done in the correct order...Does this happen during the test or does the nurse hold onto the paper and tell you everything to do and hope you remember?

Lastly are the prometric CNA skills readiness practice tests worth it? I am challenging the exam and the whole practice skills readiness package is only $25 but I want to know if its any good and do they help what all the skills steps?

Any other advice on the testing procedures are welcomed. I test in 2 weeks, as opposed to the 1 month prometric told me on the phone.

Well no responses but in any case I managed to call prometric and get the day I wanted to take the test , I just had to choose a different location which was like 1.5 hours away and i guess troubles happen for a reason because, it was a good thing too because I passed the test...so I'm now a certified nursing assistant...time to go job hunting!:)

I am currently in a cna course at a local college and I am really looking for some insight and advice for the state exam. I am extremely worried about the skills portion!!!

Well being a nursing student helped with the written part. I got a nursing assistant book with practice tests from the library but never used it. For the skills I used youtube, in particular 4yourCNA channel...and practiced on anything I could find. nope I don't endorsed it but the nurse in the videos is from my state and yes she did have some minor mistakes. Just use the prometric Skills Check list as your main guide when practicing.

Need less to say I got a PCT job soon after I challenged the exam.

Thanks for the tips! :) I am in Florida too and I have watched a few of the videos from 4yourCNA. I am excited to get the ball rolling on this. My friend just got her CNA and she could not be more adamant about how I need to save my money and time and just challenge the test.
