Orientation

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Well the day has come that i have anticipated orientation with my mentor, The first day she was just as warm and sweet as apple pie saying that we were going to work hand in hand day two it seems that she is annoyed with me, she says im not trying to be harsh but if you don't pick up your speed they going to say you not ready and need more time and you wont get your own assignment sigh:cry: I know that once you get out of school its a new ball game but how can you speed thru feeding some one? In class room training they said you have to have tough skin to be in this environment or you wont survive but thats easier said than done, don't the mentors understand that the speed will come in time or do they expect you to hit the floor running some days i feel im doing well when my mentor encourages me and the next moment she critiquing everything I do I don't know the resident as well my mentor I just feel really lost:crying2:

Things are going to take you longer. That's just the way it is. You will pick up tricks as you go along.

For example, when I first became a CNA it would take me forever to do vitals on my patients. Then my preceptor told me---do not talk during vitals. Tell the patient you have to check bps now and will be back to chat later, but this isn't a chatting la de da time. It helped me cut my time in half!!!

I wouldn't take it personally ( hard I know). She may have been having a bad day.

Just became a member, I'm an MA. Just finishing up my internship. I do plan to continue my education too LPN in the next year. I'm taking all my vital correctly, and make sure I'm their on time, in case they hire me.
