Newly Certified Nursing Assistant Seeking Advice

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Hello All!

Have a few questions about CNA. I just past my skills and written part of the State Board Exam and I am a Certified Nursing Assistant. I am so happy and excited to what the next few weeks/months will bring.

I have been filling out job applications and I know they will not even consider me until I was certified. Now that I am, it is one job that I want really bad. I did my clinicals at a nursing home and I am familar with the people. The shifts are from either 3-11 or 11-7. I had talked to someone about my application and they told me I will be considered after I was certified. I hope I get this job because it has been 2 long years since I worked and my daughter is growing up to fast for me not to be working.

I question to you guys is how long did it take for you to land your first position after you became certified?

Keep me in your prayers.

I had been applying to hospitals but wasn't getting any calls but my friend called me and told me to apply at her LTC and bam! instant job! Im so excited because they have benefits and they start at $12/hr...this was on Dec 23rd and I got certified on Dec 4th so patience is key. OH and persistence! Good Luck!

It took me less than a week to find employment at a nursing home after certification, thanks to numberous job searches and application fill-outs.

What is a LTC? What state are you in? Are you under 50?

Long term care facility. I'm in Kentucky. Yes, i'm under 50 but what does that have to do with anything? I know my facility hires many 50+ year olds.
