by bisson Nov 20, '06does anyone know of any way to become a CNA in new york without paying $10K for a institute 5 week course?
I'm a nursing student, so i already know everything they are going to teach me, and i do NOT want to pay what i will make in a year.
do i HAVE to go to a school in order to sit in for the exam? is there a way not to pay such a large amount in order to become a CNA?
much appreciated

- Nov 20, '06 by HappyParamedicRNBisson, never say you know everything they are going to teach you... thats a bad way to start.
In some states you can test to be a CNA after your first semester of nursing school. You may want to look into that.
Swtooth - Nov 20, '06 by bissonok, of course i don't know everything. no one knows everything. BUT i have learned what is taught in the CNA classes and then some, so i think i can say that i know a thing or two.
my question is- is there a CNA board that certifies or is it done through individual schools? - Nov 20, '06 by jb2uQuote from bissonThe school trains you and the state certifies you. A CNA is certified by the state, not the school.ok, of course i don't know everything. no one knows everything.
