I've been a teacher for 30 years; have my Master's Degree but have always wanted to work in a hospital setting with patients so I'm thinking about getting my CNA.

Is it possible to get hired as a CNA in a hospital without any experience other than the clinical experience in the CNA course?

No. You must be certified by your state. Going into the test without formal training would be highly discouraged. In my experience, most hospitals want at least a year of experience. The work in LTC is often not like the work in a hospital. I would never have been able to keep up with the amount and quality of work I have to do in the hospital if I had not first worked in LTC. It taught me how to keep pace and work efficiently.

Yes. Yes you can. Might not be easy depending on where you live, but it is possible. I passed my test September 2012 and was employed at a hospital 10/12. So glad. I have zero interest in LTC.

Yes, I was hired at a large hospital with no experience. Go for it! Even if you tried it out part time first, just to see if you like it.
