I need advice for my CNA interview!

Hello all!

I have landed my first CNA job interview! :D I am very excited! It will be in a couple of days, and I would like your opinions on what I should say, ask, etc. Any advice is appreciated!

Be enthusiastic. When asked how you would handle a confused or combative resident, always mention that you'd try to redirect them or reapproach them later. When answering questions, keep in mind that they love finding that you value compassion, dignity, and respect for the patients. :)

Hello,

For the two CNA interviews I've experienced, I was never asked questions regarding specific "scenarios". The interviewer simply provided me with a short tour of the facility, asked that I tell them about myself, and offered me the job. I suppose they feel that as long as you are somewhat enthusiastic, relatively personable, reasonably well groomed, and have wide flexibility, they trust you to be a decent employee.

This has been discussed before --- you might want to search past postings. Many of us were somewhat 'grilled' with the scenario thing and 'personal' questions that often make us unconfortable, and you need to be prepared for. 1st, as others have stated, good grooming, eye contact, positive attitude, good manners, etc.

Some basic questions:

What have been the best and worst work experiences you've ever had?

What are your best attributes/ worst attributes (no, not physical!)?

If you're working on the floor and the nurse loudly berates you in front of other residents/patients, what will you do?

How well do you like working with others?

If we hire you, what will you bring to this facility?

What tasks are you good at/ what tasks do you do poorly on?

The basic thing here is that you need to be honest and admit you have some faults and lie about having good attributes :chuckle.

It's simply very difficult for many people to 'toot their own horn' and you need to be prepared for that. Same thing with admitting there are things they are not so good at. Good interviewers will know your body language, so reheorifice by talking to yourself on these questions (not in public :icon_roll).
