Health Screen test?

Hi all -

This may be a silly question but I just got an offer to start working at a local hospital. They inquire that I will need to have a health screen done contigent upon the offer. What exactly goes on in a health screen??? I imagine lifting since it is a physical job. Not sure though. Is this something every nurse must do?

It's been a while but a few years ago I was hired as a pharmacy technician for a local hospital. Part of my health screening included (of course) a drug test, an eye test, and (you were right) lifting. I had to lift something off of the floor in a milk crate using proper body mechanics. The screening itself wasn't too invasive. They just asked me a few questions about whether I felt I could perform the job or not. I don't even remember them taking vital signs. Also at my screening is when they administered a TB test, to be read by HR the next day or two. Sorry I don't remember everything, but I hope this helps.

I didn't have to lift anything. But being tho I was coming from Assisted Living I guess the hospital assumed that I could lift. I had to fill out paperwork regarding any past back injuries as well as any surgeries I may have had. TB test, blood drawn to test for Measles Mumps Rubella (I think), vital signs and that was about it.

Thank you both so very much. It definitely makes sense that most of those they will do. At least now I can go there with some confidence in knowing what to expect.
