Falsely accused of abuse

hie everyone,i work at a LTCF night shift as a house float.3days ago i was floated on a different floor and they had just admitted a new resident,i asked my nurse if i could get a report on the lady but he said he couldnt give me one because he knew nothing about her and noone had given him a report even when they changed shift with the other nurse. So i basically knew nothing abt the lady,i went ahead and did my rounds as usual and introduced myself to her,she didnt seem a+o x3 because she was very incoherent and wasnt making any sense when she spoke,i reported my observation to the nurse. The next day the DON calls me at home and tells me that the resident said i was rough with her ,i vehemently denied the accusation but she told me i would need to write a statement and in the mean time i am being suspended pending investigation. On monday i turned in my statement to the supervisor and she walked me to the residents room to see if she would recognize me,she wasnt sure i was the one who "pushed her off the bed"(story changed to i pushed her off the bed!).They had a line up of the staff pictures to show her and she was unable to identify me.I am very stressed and distraught over this,it has turned into a waiting game i have family to take care off and i am not making money by just sitting on my bottom,i pick up extra shifts and do escorts sometimes but becoz of this i cant do anything.Do they have a case against me?

BTW: the DON even admitted to me that they knew nothing abt the new resident and nobody had done an evaluation on her!

Agreed - from what you've described, it's time to hit the bricks, cut your losses & find another place to work.

Deformation of Character = Defamation of Character ?

I been falsely accused of all that stuff and I know I haven't done none of the things that's being told, my point is the comes up with all of these law's for the residents but nothing for the cna, if we all do a national boycott as cna's then what would they do

I was in a situation almost like yours but they would not let me see the resident. I was working for our local nursing home. I was accused of all kinds of outrageous and untrue things, I was informed that I was under investigation for elder abuse (vulnerable Adult) and suspended until further notice, they even told me that the resident had black and blue bruising from her shoulder to her hands on both arms but they couldn't prove it. I received a letter on a Monday afternoon (two weeks later) stating that they concluded that I was to be terminated and I had to call them with in 26 hours to have a meeting. So I called them and they conveniently would not answer their phones or return my messages. I contacted my union rep and she gave me a number to call, so I did, they told me to write up a letter of resignation, so I did and had my rep turn it in. The DON refused to accept my letter!! I informed my union and now they are perusing the matter at this time. I am in the process of looking for new jobs but I think they are telling everyone bad things about me that are untrue and that they fired me. I will NEVER work in Long Term Care again!!! I did go to 2 different websites one being my state board and another license verification page and both show absolutely nothing in the way of charges or actions against me. I was wondering how everything turned out for you? Do you still work in health care or did you switch to something else? The reason I am asking is because if I can not get a job soon I pretty much don't have a choice but to go back to school for something else all together as I live in a very, very small community (everyone either knows everyone else or are related to them in some way, shape or form; I am not from here, so to them I am an outsider and always will be no matter how long I have lived here) and I can not move at this time. I hope someone can give me some in site to how bad things like this may have happened to them and how it turned out. Thank you.

Oden, yea they hire me back then fire me when they tried to make me apologize, patient stated that he fear for retaliation so they let me go, these patients knows how to play the game real well,
