Expired California CNA to Texas CNA

Hello,

Wondering if anyone has been in this situation: I was a CNA in California in 2006-2007, only worked as one for about a year. I am now just starting a BSN in Texas, and was thinking of getting a CNA cert here to possibly work/volunteer during school. Has anyone tried to do this (expired out of state CNA to a new state). The Texas DADS website is a little vague, and I don't know if their competency exam is equivalent to the one I took in CA. Thanks!

Every state is different in their rules but being that your CNA is expired AND you haven't worked in 6 years you might have to take the class and exam all over again. If you still were a working CNA sometimes you just have to take the states exam to qualify for the state you want to work in. But in this case be prepared to start fresh.

Hmmm, I haven't done it, but since you haven't worked in so long, your license would've been expired here, too. Meaning you'd have to retake your skills and written exam.
