Nursing Students CNA/MA

I just tried to fill out an online app for a CNA job (my program ends 3/24) and it won't let me because I have not *completed* the program. So either I lie and say I'm done or I wait until the end of next month to apply. I know for a fact that this place takes at least a month to hire people, so I figured I'd get a headstart and maybe have a job waiting when I got out. Bah. I'm sure I can go fill it out on site, but still.

It seems short-sighted in the extreme to prevent people who are in programs from applying because the classes are still in session.

*grump*

Monday I go to campus and fill out the app in HR. :p

The reason why they are probably not hiring people still in the program is because the state probably requires that their employees are certified nursing assistants already before they apply. Especially if you are applying for long term care. If you are still in the program at this time, there is no guarentee to them that you will be able to complete it on time (due to illness, family emergencies, etc...). It is almost like hiring a doctor while he is still taking classes and did not sit for his Boards...he did not learn all that he was supposed to learn to at least have a shot in taking the test.

What's the big deal about waiting until you actually possess the proper certification before submitting the employment application? When you look back on this issue 1 year from now, the inconvenient waiting will all seem like water under the bridge. Good luck to you!

Docs and nurses often have jobs lined up before they leave school and are registered. Why shouldn't I? The market up here seems to be a bit tight so having a line on a job before the rest of my class does sounded like a good idea.
