Hey everyone!

I am looking for suggestions and ideas as to what my hospital should do to appreciate CNAs on CNA appreciation day. If you have any creative ideas, let me know!

Thanks,

The only way I'd really feel appreciated is with a paid day off, but I couldn't foresee that ever happening.

Ordering in food might be nice. If someone mentions food, though, make sure they know that you are NOT talking about dietary. We have ordered in cake and pizza on occasion.

It would be humoring for the CNAs to have management work the floor for part/all of the shift while the CNAs observed/laughed hysterically. This was discussed at my facility, but unfortunately it never worked out.

When our facility wants to show us appreciation, they usually order us pizza. They also, from time to time, order and hand out pens (I swear, 99 percent of aides and nurses go nuts for a good pen, haha).

A place I used to work bought gifts on CNA appreciation day - small things like candles, slippers, office supplies, candy, little inexpensive gift sets. A variety of things, but they got enough for everyone and put them on a long table in the break room, along with some punch and cookies. Everyone was given a token, and on our break we could trade our tokens for one of the gifts, and enjoy a snack. It was fun, though I remember the last person to get to the gift table was a guy and he got to choose between a set of sparkly lip balms and a pair of fuzzy pink slippers, lol...so I guess if you do something like this, make sure you have enough male-appropriate gifts for your facility.

Our facility also recently started a "bucket board". The idea is that drops of water fill a bucket. They compared the bucket to morale, and the idea is to fill each others' "morale" buckets with drops of "appreciation". So, if a coworker helps you out, or you see someone working extra hard, or just doing a great job, you write them a little note on a water drop and pin it to the board. It sounds silly, but it really does brighten your day a bit when you walk by the board and see someone recognizing you for something good.

My former facility used to do that. Only about half of the stuff was "real" -- the other half of it we used to write stupid things on them like "CoffeemateCNA is SOOOOOO COOOOOOOLLLLLLL their momma must have been a polar bear" or "yousoldtheworld brought me small French Fries from McDonald's during her lunch break after I gave her $1.00 out of my purse." The dumb stuff was WAY more fun than the positive uplifting crap. Maybe that's why they ended up taking the board down.

LOL. yeah, we have those too :) But the stupid ones seem to get taken down quicker. I have all of my stupid ones taped to my locker now, though.

Geez. You mean there's such a thing as CNA Appreciation Day? Ain't no such day at my facility.

I want one of those gizmos where you throw a ball at the bullseye and then they fall into the water. ***evil grin*** What is that thing called?

That's all I want. Screw the food/bonuses. I want to dunk some folk!:smokin::smokin::smokin::smokin:

Bad idea: some ****** off, deranged employee would probably end up throwing the baseball directly at the person above the dunk tank instead of the target.

On second thought, where do we get one?
