I have 2 days left in clinicals. Then we will study for the state test .

I can't wait till that test is over and done with.

I am ready to get to work. All the people I work with during clinicals have been great. All of them told me to put in applications . I do not know where to apply. I will only be able to work a couple shifts a week. I will be in classes during the day.

Hopefully being male will help me get a job quickly. Not to mention the good reviews I have gotten from the instructors and the staff at the hospital and resident facilities I did clinicals in.

Anyways the end is near and I an excited:D

Congrats, I'm a male as well and have been a CNA for a month now. I don't think as a male you have an advantage getting hired. When people know your a male though and a CNA they always say yeah we need a male on our floor. The first thing I think of when they say that remark is yeah I know you think since I'm a male I can help with turning and lifting your patients in bed,lol. I think being a male CNA though makes a great balance on any floor though. And to be honnest if its a floor that has not many men you may not get hired. Due to the fact some elderly woman don't feel comfortable with male CNA's doing pericare or assisting them to the bathroom. Working in the LTC place I work though is great! They always staff me all male resident's. I love my residents. Most family members of my residents and staff know me as the male on the floor.:D Since my name gives them trouble with pronouncing. Nevertheless, wish you the best of luck and congrats on your journey to becoming a CNA. If you have any questions send me a message.

Good for both of you!:yeah::yeah:

I've heard it said from hosp staff and many a patient we need more men in nursing. Many patients both males and females would prefer to have a male nurse and many times there isn't one around. Keep up the great work!

Hey congratulations to both of you guys! I am in a CNA program right now (with two more days of clinicals left also) and I am really excited to start looking for a job. I was also accepted into my college's nursing program (on the first try I might add) so I will be starting in a few weeks so I'm pretty stoked. I'm not sure that being a guy will get you hired but I know that because we are considered a minority in this field if you are applying for a job and a woman with equal qualifications is also apply they may be more likely to hire you. Good luck and be sure to post in the "Men in Nursing" forum.
