Hello all.

I completed my MSN program in december, and sat for the Adult CNS exam yesterday... and i FAILED! such an embarrassment, humiliation, failure, I was so sure of myself and this test... everyone I talked to said not to worry, no need to really study. I do not know what went wrong, some of the questions were so vague, I could not even eliminate to the top 2 choices.... I did not do the online review course, regretting it now, all I did was read through a book I bought online and some material from my MSN program... I scored low in research, which boggles my mind since i was a research assistant and published in a few journals!!

so now i am having no luck contacting the ANCC regarding the new test blueprint. not to sure which test I have to take now!

anyone else in this desperate situation??? the test blueprint changes on April 5, 2011.... oh gosh, tears are starting again :crying2::crying2:

so disappointed and lost right now

The CNS test is a masters-prepared program that prepares you to be an advanced practice nurse.

The test is administered by the ANCC.

Hi All I found a CNS study guide through Amazon.com and ordered it yesterday. Im one semester away from completing my degree and wanted to get a jump on reviewing for the exam over the summer. There is so little review available for CNS exam that I jumped at the chance when I found this 6 CD review on amazon. I will post again after they arrive and let everyone know if it's worth it or will be requesting a refund!! Stay tuned!!!

I completed my MSN in May of this year and took the ANCC Adult Health CNS Exam on September 16 and passed. The process to me was sad because there were no review courses to "go" to other than an audio conference that you dialed into weekly. I did not do that because I can't sit there and learn well like that. Additionally, there were no true "review books" available as there are for the NP exams. Someone really should write some.

Starting about 2 weeks before the exam, I started reading and studying the Mo-Metrix book that has been mentioned here. I felt it was packed with a lot of unnecessary info and had many grammatical errors and misspelled words. I read it through once. The week before my exam, I took a week of PTO and reviewed the chapter summaries of my patho book, reviewed my pharm book, and my health assm book. I also reviewed guidelines for CAD, HTN, CHF, and DM on the National Guideline Clearinghouse website.

While I was very nervous and did not feel ready, I took the exam thinking that if I failed, it would be a learning experience. I believe the key to passing is making sure that you read the entire question carefully. I probably "marked" 75 questions to review later if I had time and I did. I think I changed 3 answers and was worried that I may have changed one that was correct. However, when I finished and was handed my letter, I almost fainted! It was one of the most stressful experiences of my life.

I did take some sample exams on the ANCC website and I think that helped me become accustomed to the format. Additionally, I found some practice tests online. I can't recall the web address though. If I find it I will post it.

Good luck!

Hi. Did you ever find the site with practice tests???

Ok so I've been stalking my mailbox all week and the CDs have finally arrived. To my UTTER DISAPPOINTMENT THEY ARE USELESS!! The first CD had some content recorded by what sounded like a machine/mechanical voice. When the voice pronounced Cat-ion as cashion I had a hhmmm?? Moment. The remaining 5 CDs are BLANK!!!! I just emailed customer service for a full refund including my shipping and handling and a prepaid return label. SO DISSAPOINTED AND FRUSTRATED!!!!!!

Hahaha I'm at WCSU doing my program. The only CNS this go around. Last semester this fall. Keeping fingers crossed that all goes well. Re the CDs- customer service replied within the hr and says they will resend them. Giving them one more shot out of desperation since there are NO other review products out there for us CNSs.

I think you can also use the NP review products, so far we've been taking same courses. Its only clinicals that will be different. Goodluck and keep in touch.

So I have to set things right. I mentioned before that I ordered a set of 6 CDs from amazon called Clinical Nurse Specialist 6 hr review course. When the 1st set of CDs arrived only the first one played in my computer. All others said blank and so I emailed customer service who quickly replied that I would receive another set. That set came today and again all said blank in my pc. Another fiery email was sent to customer service who replied within minutes telling me to try another player bc she checked them before sending them. Low and behold they work in my tele's DVD player!!!!' I'm sitting there with egg on my face and sending an apology to this company. Why didn't I think of trying them in another cd player??? Lol lol. Well I'm just glad I wasnt out 140 bucks for nothing. Haven't listened to them as yet tho so fingers crossed that it was worth it.
