Senior nurse and math

I Will be starting the RN to BSN and haven't taken math since HS-40+ years ago. I just don't remember basic math beyond what I use daily. I calculate insulin daily. Algebra was a struggle in HS. I use one formula for dosing. Did anyone else have this prob? I think I get it and move forward and then review the previous chapter and have already forgotten the prior. I am not smarter than a fifth grader and people tell me all the time I am the smartest nurse they know. HELP!

I was an (50s) older student going back for my RN-BSN. I had to take statistics (the only math class they figured I needed). I am NOT a math person and found the class very difficult, but I passed. Now I am in a MSN program and taking research...stats again!

My school uses a book called "The Nurse, The Math, The Meds." People say it's pretty basic and helpful.

I am in the same boat, I will be taking Stats in January and am quite nervous about it!!

So, I tackled the math and think I can pass a proficiency test. As for the algebra, I know I need to retake it. I can't do it on my own.

Took both proficiency exams. Did really well in math. Did better than I thought in Algebra but not good enough. Planned on taking it, but now they are saying I need both basic math and algebra. I am contesting it. If there are 2 exams and I did great on one- why are 2 classes needed? Money hungry?
