Why do anesthesiologists hate CRNAs???

I have a long way to go in order to fulfill my CRNA dreams, but that is something I definitely want to do. I want to make a contribution in the OR without having to actually cut. I also want to be a nurse than a doctor. I want to get to know my patients and care for them. But I was reading on the internet and anesthesiologists seem to hate CRNAs and want to get rid of them. WHY? I dont understand. Why do they have to be the only ones giving anesthesia?

They are also saying how robots will replace CRNAs...

Any inputs or thoughts?

Im just saddened by all this...

read Watchful Care, by M. Bankert. Goes into the history of CRNAs and opened up my eyes as to some of the reasons for what you are describing.

I would say hate is not accurate. There are those who prefer that we have limited abilities and I have seen that they are more protective over central lines and such. I do not feel hated by my MDAs but I know there are other places in the country that feel differently.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet. Most of the posters are bitter residents and med students.

The anesthesiologists who hate us do so because we threaten their income. We can do the same job at half the cost and the same degree of adverse events. Robots will never replace us, no AI programs can make the same decisions as humans. To many factors and interactions are needed to reach decisions. With obomacare all advanced practice nurses are promoted, although I doubt the system will be financially solvent for long. The legislation promotes the use of the lower cost and equally safe service provider. Not every pt needs a physician for their healthcare.
