Question: Why did my background check come clean when it shouldnt be?
So should I call the state police of where I was arrested (I don't live there anymore but was arrested there) and try to retrieve my records? I just want to know what my record is. And I definitely was charged. Because I had to hire a lawyer and take a class after. Thanks

If I hate being a Cna, should I stop pursuing Nursing?
Oh my goodness!!! Thank you ALL for the responses!!! I appreciate it so much. I have learned SO much from reading what everyone had to say!!! I am 27, and switching careers from retail to nursing.. So I have a long road ahead of me as I am only taking pre nursing classes and my CNA class. I decided on the CNA class because I wanted some experience. Some of you had asked me why CRNA. As I've mentioned before, I want to work in the OR and be a part of the surgery. I'm not 100% sure if I want to go into anesthesia as I am not even in nursing school yet. But anesthesia definitely interests me. Someone also mentioned that there is such thing as a scrub nurse! I had NO idea!!!! That also interested me very much. I am sticking with the Cna program! I almost quit but I decided to finish. Thanks for ALL your input and help. :)

Question: Why did my background check come clean when it shouldnt be?
I guess what I don't understand is, if the actual fingerprinting FBI background check came back clear, how does the BON see it? Do they not use the same background check? And also, do I have to disclose this information on my applications for nursing school and future jobs as well? I hope my concern made sense. ?

Clinical Experiences?
I'm sorry in advance because I don't have much advice for you since I just started the clinical portion this week... But I just wanted to say that I loved learning everything in the classroom but I absolutely hated my first day at the nursing home. I wanted to leave, I was set on quitting, and now I'm really contemplating if I should finish the program or just quit now-- I definitely don't plan to work as a Cna. I would rather spend the clinical hours studying for my bio and Chem classes. Please keep me updated on how you liked the clinical portion!! I look forward to it.. Good luck!!!!

If I hate being a Cna, should I stop pursuing Nursing?
Thanks for the replies. I feel like I'm having an identity crisis Honestly, it was my first day and I was very flustered. I didn't like the thought of only having to take care of the elderly in a nursing home. I didn't enjoy wiping poop and doing peri care. But here's the thing, I wouldn't mind it once in a while, but it's not what I want to be doing full time, and only that. I think I wanted to be more active in a medical setting, rather than a home care setting. I am not sure if this makes sense- I am also trying to figure out myself, why I did not enjoy it at all. I am dreading going back again. Why I want to be a CRNA- I'm not 100% sure because I haven't even gone through nursing school yet, but I realized that I want to be involved medically and in a hospital setting, helping people. But I especially want to contribute to surgery/operations, but without being a surgeon. I don't know if there are other types of nurses that are involved in the OR - but I also am interested in anesthesia. I was thinking about med school and going into anesthesiology, however I decided I wanted to be a nurse over a doctor. Can I ask everyone how a CNA differs from a RN? As I've mentioned, my CNA teacher (LPN) says that I won't be able to be an RN if I can't even be a CNA I have no one else to ask for nursing advice so I really appreciate any responses. Thank you so much.

If I hate being a Cna, should I stop pursuing Nursing?
Hi everyone, I have a huge problem. I just started clinical in my CNA class at a nursing home and to be completely honest, I really hated it. I wanted to like it and enjoy it but I couldn't. I was upset because of that. The resident I was helping was so sweet, and I felt so bad that I didn't enjoy taking care of her. Now I am questioning if I should continue to pursue my nursing degree. My end goal is to be a nurse anesthetist. I want to be a part of operations and surgery. I do like taking care of people, but i guess not in the care taker type of way. (does this make sense?)But my Cna teacher told me if I cant even do this, I definitely won't be able to be a RN. Is this true?? Please be honest, because if that is true I really need to reconsider my future path. I really look forward to some answers. Thanks everyone.

Question: Why did my background check come clean when it shouldnt be?
Hi, I am hoping for any kind of feedback. I posted before about how I have been arrested at 18 and had my case closed. This was almost 8 years ago. I decided to do an FBI background check on myself and got fingerprinted. I got the results back and it said no arrests were found. Now I don't understand why it is not showing up when it is a fingerprinted background check- shouldn't that mean all records show up? Is it not the same background check the BONs and hospitals use? Why do I have to put down "yes" under arrest questions in applications when the background check came clean, actually why did it even come out clean? I am so confused If anyone has experienced this before, any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for reading

I just recieved my background check in the mail
I just want to clarify- I got a FBI background check with fingerprints included. Does this differ from a Police background check? I am really unsure of what to put for my applications at school. I want to put "Yes" under I've been arrested but my mom thinks I'm nuts. She keeps telling me to put NO since no record was found with fingerprints/FBI. Any advice? I know no one can give me legal advice, but any suggestions or thoughts would be very helpful. Confused

I just recieved my background check in the mail
hello everyone,i need some advice. if you didnt read my last topic, i was arrested at 18 for petty larceny and was in jail for a few hours, got fingerprinted, and had a mug shot taken. it has weighed heavy on my heart and even more when i decided to change careers and go into nursing. i was SO depressed. i think some of you understand how awful it feels. i just thought i would never become a nurse because of a terribly stupid mistake i made. the judge basically granted a acd (?) and i attended a class and my class was sealed 6 mons later. i decided to do a background check on myself to see if the case was sealed etc etc i just got it back in the mail and it said there was nothing found!!!!!!!!!! no records were found!!!!! i feel like screaming snd crying at the same time. i am so confused and so relieved and grateful...and apprehensive too. do you think the fbi made an error? im thinking maybe ill get fingerprinted again and do it over?? i am so paranoid... also, if this is the case where there is no record of any arrests.. what do i write on my applications for nusing school and such? this is so confusing!!!!thanks everyone for reading!!!
