Help Quick. "Supervision Rules" Interview Question.

Specialties CRNA

Published

I have an interview on Monday and have been warned to know Supervision Rules for Nurse Anesthetists, or to at least have an opinion about the current situation facing the MD's, CRNA's and assistants. I am a surgical ICU nurse. I don't have a clue as to a politically correct answer. I know that Standards of Administration are necessary, but I am not educated on State Exemptions, or current opinions that concern or that are troubling to all three groups of administrators. Any clues on how to answer?

Congrats on getting the interview and good luck!!!

The American Association of Nurse Anesthetists AANA.com website has a good overview as well as the latest news concerning the medical supervision issue and AAs.

"i as a nurse anesthetist student find this to be a touchy subject in many ways, however i feel that the cooperative nature of mdas and crnas are as important if not more so than most other areas of healthcare. whenever you can use input from 2 different academic viewpoints, youre bound to get the best possible answer for the best patient outcomes."

however, many ppl will say, if your qualified to provide anesthesia, you should be able to formulate your own plan of care and be prepared for any deviation from that plan the patient presents to you.

this from a lowly first semester srna

Good luck in your interview, let us know the results.

Thank You All for your replies. They did not ask the question in the interview today. Big relief!!

Can you share with us what they did ask?

They asked about personal strengths and weakness, my goals and my financial situation. I was then allowed to ask questions about the program. It was probably 10 minutes long, and there were only two interviewers. It was pretty easy. Good luck to all who have yet to interview!

I am interested in becoming a CRNA and i was wondering if you can give me advice in what I can do to become that? What school did you begin??? How long did it take? Thank You for your time!

Does your community college have a nursing program so you can get your RN? If so, see an advisor about what steps you need to take at that school to get in that program.

Also take a look at this post. It gives a ton of information about becoming a CRNA.
