Just a couple of questions...I am going to apply for CRNA school in May...will start May 07. I have a 3.5 and have never made a C...have an AA, AS, ADN and am currently working in ICU as a new grad. I will have my BSN in May 06. I am registered to take ACLS, PALS, Basic Ary classes at my hospital.

First of all, I was wondering if there was anything I could do to give my application the "edge"???

Second, GRE Help! Have already scheduled it for Nov!! I have a math book prep for the GRE and the Barron's GRE study book...any suggestions about this test? I've been taking the cd rom test at home and not doing so great. Any suggestions?

I don't post a lot but I really enjoy reading everyone else's post.

Take a princeton review class, its pricey, but worth the money.

I bought the Princeton Review book, which has a cd and access to the website for a programmed review. I found the test questions online to be very close to what I had on the actual test. The methods they teach for approaching the questions and choosing the correct answer are very useful. Before investing in the class, try the book. When I took the pretest I scored in the high 400's in each section. I studied the whole book over the course of a month, and my score on the actual exam was 670 verbal, 730 math. Most of the information you have already learned over the course of your education. Learning how to approach the questions and time management are really the key to success on the exam. good luck!

Kaplan Review Book and CD only. If you are deficient in Math and/or verbal, grab a focus book on GRE Math or Verbal for Test takers. All these books can be picked up at boards/barnes-n-noble. Would not recommend a structured course where you pay money for someone to highlight the program. I would only recommend a review course if you feel that you are not disciplined enough to study on your own.

Take the CCRN as well, again there are many review books out there look at the reviews on amazon, as your peers if they used any and which ones worked. I spent over $200 in books and tapes on a well know person who teaches these review and she wasted my time and money, then I found one book $35 and it was the best one available. again I did not research enough and wasted money.

I also used Kaplan book with CD. I was great and I raised my score 400 points. The CD has a practice test to start from and then it formulates a custom lesson plan that you work through at your own pace. It also provides math and verbal drills. It was well worth the $35. Hope that helps.

Just wanted to share with you how I was totally stressing over my review cd scores.

Then the weekend before my test the GRE practice CD showed up that ETS sends for you to practice on. That is the one to use!! The first time I took a test with the ETS practice CD my scores were 100+ higher for both the Q and the V.

I suggest you stop using the CD that is giving you stress and focus on things that make you feel more successful! You can do this! You are smart enough and able to do this.

Tutors may be useful, the group class may help and you will do great. The more time that you spread out your study and review the better.

p.s. and do not worry about that cd that you have, it may just not be the right cd for you to use, get another one!
